Designing children's furniture entails special responsibility. That is why at Bellamy, safety, ergonomics, and material quality are part of the design process from the very beginning, not just an addition to the finished product.

Children's furniture must meet not only the aesthetic needs of parents but, above all, the way children use it. We pay attention to construction, stability, proportions, materials, the method of attaching individual elements, and solutions appropriate for the child's age and developmental stage.

European Safety Standards

Bellamy products are designed and manufactured in accordance with the safety requirements applicable to specific categories of children's furniture.

Different requirements apply to an infant cot, a child's bed, a bunk bed, a desk, or other room furnishings. Therefore, we assess safety in relation to the function and intended use of a specific product.

Where required by relevant standards and regulations, products undergo appropriate examinations and tests.

Thanks to this, Bellamy's safety is not based solely on the manufacturer's declaration – we have documentation confirming the compliance of products and materials used with relevant requirements.

Safe paints – compliance with EN 71-3

For finishing Bellamy furniture, we use child-safe paints that meet the requirements of the EN 71-3 standard.

This standard specifies requirements for the migration of certain elements from materials and coatings. This is particularly important for products in the child's immediate environment.

The choice of appropriate coatings is as important to us as the construction of the furniture itself – a child touches the cot, bed, desk, or chest of drawers every day, which is why we also pay attention to what the furniture's surface is finished with.

MDF and furniture boards – controlled formaldehyde emission

We pay special attention to the quality of wood-based materials used in the production of Bellamy furniture.

The MDF and particle boards we use have documentation and certificates confirming compliance with applicable formaldehyde emission requirements.

The selection of materials with appropriate parameters is particularly important for children's room furnishings, where a child spends a significant part of the day and night.

Thus, we do not limit ourselves to the material's appearance. We also verify its properties and supplier documentation.

Safe construction of children's furniture

A safe material is only one element of a good piece of children's furniture.

During design, we also pay attention to the stability and strength of the construction, the method of joining elements, fastenings, hinges, handles, proportions, and solutions that limit the risk of injury during everyday use.

When designing furniture, we analyze how a child will use it at a given stage of development.

This is especially important for cots and furniture that changes its function as the child grows.

Ergonomics adapted to child development

We understand safety more broadly than just meeting a specific standard. Ergonomics and adapting the furniture to the capabilities of a developing child are also important to us.

That is why in many Bellamy designs, we use solutions that allow the furniture to be adapted to successive stages of childhood.

In cots, this can include changing the mattress height, the ability to remove rungs, or converting the cot into a daybed, and in selected models, into a larger bed. For desks, appropriate adjustment allows the tabletop height to be matched to the child's growth.

The furniture should adapt to the child – not the child to the furniture.

Safety begins at the design stage

Designing children's furniture requires combining many fields: design, ergonomics, technology, knowledge of materials, and understanding of child development.

Therefore, when creating new designs and prototypes, we analyze their functionality, construction, and method of use. The experience of parents and children is as important a source of knowledge for us as the knowledge of designers and specialists.

Only the combination of these elements allows us to create a space where a child can safely sleep, rest, play, learn, and develop independence.

Polish production and proven suppliers

All Bellamy furniture is produced in Poland.

We cooperate with proven Polish production plants and suppliers with whom we build long-term relationships. We source wood from proven domestic suppliers.

Keeping production in Poland allows us to be close to the process of creating our furniture and consistently develop Bellamy quality standards.

We do not import ready-made children's furniture from China or other distant markets to then sell it under our own brand. Our collections are designed, developed, and produced in Poland.

Safety confirmed by documentation

The safety of children's products should be based on facts, which is why we collect documentation, certificates, and test results regarding both the materials used and products for which relevant standards apply.

The documentation includes, among others:

• safety of paints and coatings used,
• compliance with the requirements of EN 71-3,
• MDF board parameters,
• particle board parameters,
• formaldehyde emission requirements,
• tests and requirements applicable to specific categories of children's furniture.

Awards are a confirmation of the quality of our design work, but the most important test remains the daily use of our products by children and their parents.

Safety is a process for us

Standards, certificates, and tests are extremely important, but for Bellamy, safety does not end with documentation.

It is a way of thinking about the product at every stage of its creation – from the first sketch, through material selection, prototyping, and production, to the method of assembly and daily use of the furniture in the child's room.

Since 2005, we have been developing our products alongside changing knowledge, technologies, requirements, and the needs of modern families.
